HIA v DEA - Hemp Industry

In September 2020, the HIA and industry members filed a lawsuit against DEA, challenging a rule that could have far-reaching consequences. This petition asked the federal appeals court to review an interim final rule the DEA issued in August 2020, arguing the agency exceeded its authority and violated the 2018 farm bill.

When Congress passed the 2018 farm bill, it explicitly carved hemp and its derivatives out of the Controlled Substances Act so that hemp can be regulated as an agricultural commodity. The DEA’s interim final rule could create substantial barriers to the legal manufacturing of hemp-derived products, a critical component of the hemp supply chain, and devastate the entire hemp industry. Although the DEA states that is not its intention, the rule must be amended to ensure hemp remains an agricultural crop, as Congress intended.

The petitioners are represented by leading hemp industry attorneys at Vicente Sederberg LLP, Kight Law Office PC, and Hoban Law Group, along with appellate attorneys from Yetter Coleman LLP, which has received national attention for its work against the DEA in the realm of cannabis research.

For over 25 years, the Hemp Industries Association has been fighting for justice for hemp. This case is the fourth occasion in its history, the HIA has taken the Drug Enforcement Administration to federal court in landmark cases that helped to secure the future of the hemp industry in the United States.

We hope you’ll join us for this livestream event on
May 13th at 11am PT.

Animal Feed Might Just Go to Pot -- And That's a Good Thing

Hemp Industries Association- Anyone who follows the hemp market is aware of how prices have collapsed under the weight of too much supply and not enough demand. But what if demand increased not from new recreational pot users and health conscious consumers, but from animal feed providers?

It might be time to look beyond CBD for hemp stocks as the future may instead be at the feed lots.

Bringing It Home Movie Review by Scotty-MOhemp Energy

It was great to see the rockstars of the Industrial Hemp Industry that are revolutionizing the way Hemp is used as a sustainable and natural alternative to many of the chemical and oil based products on the market and on the store shelves.

I agree with Ms Anndrea Hermann that:
It is completely irrational that Farmers in the United States of America are not allowed to grow Industrial Hemp when we are importing Millions of dollars worth of Hemp products every year.

Hempcrete Healthy Buildings and were highlighted in six different parts of the movie with attention was given to USA's first Hempcrete Home in South Carolina built by Youtube Video Hemp Technologies, designed by Anthony Brenner of Healthy Home Consultant

Hemp Oil Business success featured an interview with Dr Bonners Magic Soap and others.  It was interesting to learn that the company David Bonner mentioned that the Dr Bonner Magic Soap business in 2000 had 15 employees and earned 6 Million dollars.  They had projected their company would be a 13 Million dollar company, after adding Hemp based products they have grown to a 43 Million Dollar Company.  They also talked about how the company had grown from 12 people working in the processing facility to 87 employees!

Hemp Clothing by Hemporium, and Pretty Birdie, Stephanie Teague highlighted how orders came in from all over the world for her custom made hemp based clothing, and how she orders her material from companies in China and Canada because she cannot buy hemp based clothing that is American Made.

hemp foods body care markets

Info provided by HIA .  The hemp foods and body-care markets alone were estimated at $620 million in 2014 -- up 21% from the year previous. And this doesn’t reflect the potential in building materials and bio-composites, both of which will surpass foods and body care in light of their potential to help reach federal carbon-reduction goals . . . and move into broad mainstream application.

The Hemp Industries Association (HIA) is a non-profit trade group representing hemp companies, researchers and supporters. We are at the forefront of the drive for fair and equal treatment of industrial hemp. Since 1994, the HIA has been dedicated to education, industry development, and the accelerated expansion of hemp world market supply and demand. Read more-http://www.thehia.org/
