MOhemp Energy: Kenaf Lignin Removal Invention Test Plants

MOhemp Energy: Kenaf Lignin Removal Invention Test Plants

Mar 2, 2016  Kenaf Plants growth progress gif image created with Google Picasa.

Notes:
  1. Cardboard cylinder is a toilet paper roll center that is used to hold the plants upright.  The plants are not exactly growing in optimum conditions in the widow sill.  The stems of the plants do not get the wind that is needed to strengthen the plant stem and the weight of the leaves bends the stems over.
  2. A quarter was used for size reference early in the plants growth.

  3. The Red Colored lights are not from a Red Grow Light, this was caused by a camera setting in a few photos.
  4. I planted 6 seeds- 5 sprouted.  I killed 1 attempting to help it rid the seed pod.  I ripped the tender leaves and that plant never recovered and died.  (Don't love your plants to death- Paul Allen
  5. The majority of the photos are taken in the AM when I am getting a cup of coffee to start the day.
  6. This is also when I turn the supplemental lighting on.
  7. Supplemental lighting is generally left on a minimum of 12 hours a day, 7 am to 7 pm.
  8. The Grand-kids are marveling at how fast the Kenaf Plants grow (and so am I).  I told the middle child that they will eventually grow taller than us.  They could grow up-to 15 feet tall, which is 4 times as tall as you right now. (Note to self: she doesn't know how tall 15 feet is.  I have to do a better job of comparison)
  9. She also asked, "if we are going to eat these plants?"  I replied, "I don't know I guess we could, I've heard of other people eating Kenaf plants.  And read that Kenaf Growers feed the plants to their farm animals."
  10. Occasionally, as the Temperature warms the plant tray is taken outside and placed on the Patio so the plants get Natural Sunlight.  I hope to also strengthen the stems by doing this with the natural breeze.
  11. I am planning on re-potting the plant starts into bigger pots soon.

Thank You for stopping by-Share and Comment below.  If additional information in needed or you have a question let me know.  Together we can make a difference and create a future that will benefit everyone.

MOhemp Hazmat update:
Electro Culture Heavy Metal Movement Chart Diagram

MOhemp Hazmat Electro Horticulture Phytoremediation Diagram
MOhemp Hazmat green remediation 5 stage treatment train
MOhemp Hazmat Natural Bio Water Filtration CAD design

The 5 Stage Treatmennt Train and Process will be presented to the state AG, FUSRAP, MO DNR, EPA, and local community members.

  • Heavy Metal Soil and Material Testing Lab and Personnel will perform on-site testing.

MOhemp Energy update:

  • With little to no advertising outside my connections and this Hemp Energy Blog. I have been fielding at least one inquiry per week (from locations all over the World- mainly USA)  who are interested in the one pass hemp harvesting machine.  As well as my continued exploration into the end uses of Lignin.  I happily report that one part of the inventions has been suggested by a recent company as it relates to end fiber "softness" being a major factor!   Part of this process involves having test plants.  4 of the 6 are going strong (I killed 1 and 1 didn't sprout) (Kenaf plants are now 8in tall, developed the 2nd set of leaves).

I am extremely happy with the direction that MOhemp Energy and MOhemp Hazmat company endeavors are leading.
MOhemp Energy sends out this invitation to the World, to join in these much needed endeavors.  We can make some money, help people and the planet at the same time!
The MOhemp Energy startup is looking all that more appealing when the current Federal and State of Missouri  Legislation and active bills that relate to Medical Cannabis, Industrial Hemp, Cannabis cures Cancer, PTSD treatment with Cannabis (Facebook hear a Missouri USA Veteran tell how Cannabis helped his PTSD).

In closing I believe MOhemp has a very bright future.
If you would like to join in this endeavor send email, call, or use the contact form and I will be in touch!  Scotty

You Do Not Need to be an Expert to Innovate

I just shared this LinkedIn post by D.Jacobs with a leader in the American and Colorado Hemp Industry who seemed reluctant to believe that my invention is the Holy Grail that my EU Hemp Adviser claims it to be.

update added: 1/3/16 The next day after sending this in an email he did reply back and I have been referred to 2 additional Midwest Hemp companies.

To All the Inventors out there who are searching for believers and founders of your great products please remember:

You Don't Need to be an Expert to Innovate in Your Field

In all four of the companies I founded, I was far from being an expert when I began: in fact, I had never spent a formal day in that field before I had the idea for the company. In all cases, it helped me. Here's a step-by-step guide to why:

1. Innovation is About Solving Big Programs. Across the board, great innovations are also solutions to big problems that many people have tried to solve, but that have left those same people scrambling for answers.

2. Big Problems Aren't Often Solved By Existing Experts. Oftentimes, the old guard in an industry has been doing things one way for so long that they've put on blinders that prevent them from seeing new possibilities.

3. Existing Experts Can Be Part of the Problem. Especially in bleeding industries, experts can be more concerned with maintaining the status quo that won them their expert status... rather than innovating.

4. It Takes a New Pair of Eyes to Spot the Pain. My brother finally helped me see that purple parachute pants in the mid-90s weren't a good idea. Similarly, in business it's often the guy on the outside that sees the problem.

5. Experts Won't Risk Their Expert Status to Find a Solution. That job goes to someone whose risk-reward ratio is different; someone who stands to gain more than they might lose by innovating.

That someone is often a newbie - a person looking at the problem with a fresh pair of eyes. That someone... is perhaps you!

Last Thought: The above is more the cycle of innovation than a story of experts having bad intentions (which isn't usually the case). Marching forward and solving big problems always requires new voices in the conversation.

Startup Lesson: Industry Players vs Non Industry People

One thing I've learned when talking to Hemp and Agriculture People vs those outside the business is: People in Agriculture understand Agriculture terms used in my startup pitch deck.

Here's a simple example:  I mentioned a drill the other day to a non ag person.  "He asked how big of a hole?"  When I mention a drill to an Ag person; they understand I'm talking about a seeder or planter that "puts the seeds into the ground".  The one simple word has very different meanings.

I also learned that it takes me more time to explain farming techniques and less time is spent on talking about my inventions or MOhemp Energy:
  • such as crop rotation,
  • planting or harvesting are times often determined by weather conditions,
  • the difference between a combine or a harvester...
The greatest thing about pitching to Agriculture Industry Players is that they want to see Farmers succeed.  They understand that Farming is the most important industry in the World.  Farmers create the most treasured resource: Food.

Disruptive Investors Wanted

Snippets of info contained in the MOhemp startup business plan for investors.

The Green Building MOhemp Construction Crew will utilize the products made by the company to build new and renovate existing buildings for energy efficiency and creature comforts.

It would beneficial for the company to have a display home or building that utilizes the company made hemp products.  Showcasing how great the product is and the wide variety of uses.  (In addition to a company store.)
This will also give the company a building to test for real life energy stats, fire resistance demonstrations, advertising, product building demonstrated, community relations, and more. (see Impact Resistant Wall Structure Videos soon to be released)

The building products showcased: Hemp Hurds and Fibers will be used as Natural Sustainable and VOC free insulation.

  • Europe and other countries have been utilizing the hemp plant for a few years now, advertised using the Timber Frame construction techniques.

  • For New Construction: Hempcrete can be adapted into the different types of construction used today.

  • Standard Framing such as the home in South Carolina, deemed America's first Hempcrete Home.

  • I compare the European Timber Frame Construction techniques to American Post Frame building technology.

  • MOhemp Building Products will also be available for purchase in the company store, online website ordering, and through building suppliers/lumber yards.
